Basement water extraction deals with removing water that's collected in a basement – whether from flooding, a sump pump failure, foundation seepage, or a burst pipe. Basements sit below grade, which means water tends to collect there and drain out slowly on its own, if at all, making fast extraction especially important.
Homeowners in Kahului, HI call about this after heavy rain overwhelms drainage around the foundation, after a sump pump stops working during a storm, or after a pipe breaks in a finished or unfinished basement. In older homes, foundation cracks letting groundwater in are also a common cause.
We bring in pumps sized for the amount of water involved and start removing it as quickly as possible, working to protect anything stored down there along the way. Once the water is out, we check moisture levels in the concrete, framing, and any finished materials like drywall or flooring to determine what drying work is needed next.
Cost depends on how much water is involved and how finished the basement is – an unfinished basement with a few inches of water is a faster job than a finished basement with flooring and drywall that took on water.
Keep in mind, a basement that's flooded once is often prone to it happening again unless the source – whether it's drainage, a sump pump, or a foundation crack – gets addressed alongside the cleanup.
